Dear FTC, I am writing to tell you about our family's experience hosting on Airbnb. The extra income generated from hosting guests has allowed me to spend time with our children. For the first time in their lives, I am able to pick them up from school, to help manage their teenage years in a way that just simply would not have been possible when I was employed full time at a high-stress and very demanding corporate job. Yes, my job was well paid by the standards of most Americans. But I regularly worked weekends and often till very late at night, and rarely got to enjoy spending quality time with our children. I was burned out and that negatively impacted the family. Airbnb has given us a way to supplement our income. It does not come close to replacing my salary. But it is enough to make a difference. Now I pick up my kids from school, help them with their homework and we get to have family dinners every night with Mom (me!) really present. Sincerely, Anne-Marie Johnson & Martin Ruddle along with our two children, two dogs and four cats.
