The "Sharing" Economy: Issues Facing Platforms, Participants, and Regulators A Federal Trade Commission Workshop
I am 70 years old and love having the opportunity for company in my home, yet keep my home. Airbnb helps me have both. Overnight guests allow me to have intermittent company without a long-term commitment. The stimulation of having guests from overseas keeps me very interested in life. The extra income helps me keep my home, without resorting to a retirement home, which does not appeal to me at this time. And I look forward to having an affordable opportunity to travel elsewhere. There are sad stories about any of life's arrangements, but this sharing of space is mostly a win-win for all, which I hope can be appreciated by the FTC.
