The "Sharing" Economy: Issues Facing Platforms, Participants, and Regulators A Federal Trade Commission Workshop
Changing country and career, I needed to start from scratch. Finding a good job has been hard, so I decided to make myself an opportunity by starting my own business. It takes time and effort, and you don't see real money until years to come. That's when Airbnb has played a key part. I have been able to support myself by sharing my room with travelers. I even have had bad experience with roommates (lack of cleaning, not paying rent on time or partying in the house) - Having travelers instead of roommates have been a changing experience! Now, I'm in charge of the house and can get economic support while meeting amazing travelers from all over the world, that also enjoy having a nice, quiet and clean place to stay, while paying fair amounts. We all benefit. We make new friends. They pay less than hotels and I earn more than with a roommate. This extra money has allowed me to build my business, And I'm hiring. So the money gets back to the community. I love and admire Airbnb and all sharing businesses. It's the new thing. It's helping thousands of people. It should continue. Thank you
