I joined Airbnb as a host to earn a little extra money, and to give people a more real experience of staying with a family/couple who are long-time residents, with vast knowledge of the area the guests are visiting. We find the whole idea of sharing a great way to meet interesting people, and to conserve resources and maintain the beauty and authenticity of the Shenandoah Valley. My husband had to retire early when his newspaper was bought out and the entire staff fired. He is home often during the day, and can assist guests if needed. He has some work driving a school bus, and stringing for the Winchester Star. I am the lead nurse practitioner for the local Free Medical Clinic. We like people, and this is a way to maintain our home, and interact with visitors to Winchester.
