The "Sharing" Economy: Issues Facing Platforms, Participants, and Regulators A Federal Trade Commission Workshop
Airbnb is a wonderful thing. My experience with it in three states has been nothing but positive. The places we stayed have been truly wonderful, the people we met quite lovely and best of all, the stays were affordable and pleasant. In each home we felt as if we were visiting friends, not just staying overnight in a hotel. The accommodations were top notch, clean and beautifully appointed, the surroundings warm and cozy, the service, such as there was, was personal, friendly and just right for our needs. It would be a great shame to shut down this opportunity that is mutually beneficial to both the airbnb provider and the traveler. I wholeheartedly support the new sharing economy. It was born of a need for a different more affordable way to do business. It allows people to make the best use of existing resources and in this day and time that is essential. You can keep your Motel Sixes and Holiday Inns. As long as there is access to airbnb, that is the way I will travel.
