Dear FTC I believe that companies that operate in the same fashion as hotels and taxis should be treated, taxed, and regulated as such. The only difference between a proper taxi or hotel room and companies like Uber or AirBnB is that its private individuals rather than businesses. The interesting thing is that the nation has already discussed these types of individual (private citizen) businesses and passed regulations and laws about them. Just look to the current Bed-and-Breakfast or the historical "Jitneys" taxis of the early century. The debates and issues we face today are very similar to those of the past. The only difference is that technology has made it easier for private individuals to act as businesses or contractors without actually registering or following the regulations of those. To conclude, the nation has already had this debate; please enforce the laws and treat these businesses for what they are. Thank you.
