CASRO, the national association of social, opinion, and market research companies, submits this comment in support of the Telemarketing Sales Rule (TSR) and the positive effect it has in prohibiting telemarketers from using the guise of research to conduct telemarketing. CASRO applauds the FTC for its consistent work protecting consumers from unfair business practices that tangle the environment for fair business practices. CASRO strongly believes there is a continuing need for the disclosure and reporting requirements of the TSR in order to regulate abusive and deceptive telemarketing practices that harm consumers and the legitimate research industry by engaging in telemarketing under the pretext of research.
