Announcement of Public Workshop, "Examining Health Care Competition" ("Health Care Workshop") Project No. P13-1207
Just read an article in, Modern Health Care, about PA's and NP's workloads expected to increase over the next several years. Moreover, it concurs with the federal government wanting all VA hospitals to expand the autonomy and services of mid-level providers due to a lack of medial doctors. The AMA and other physicians need to get over themselves, and stop impeding progress, just like the horse and buggy makers had to do when the first auto mobile was invented. Medical students aren't lined up out the door to become primary care providers. Pediatricians and primary care doctors have the lowest paying position when compared to physician specialist. They allege those salaries don't justify their high student loan debt. At the end of the day, it seems, medical students don't want to do primary, yet they and the AMA don't want mid-level NP's/ PA's to do it either with full autonomy. How selfish and close minded is that. Then they wonder why the ER's and urgent cares are being used for primary care. Its time for the AMA and other intrest groups to wake up and get with the program of the increasing need for access to affordable care.
