Commission authorization of the staff to file amended complaint: The FTC has authorized the staff to file an amended complaint in the matter currently pending against Datacom Marketing Inc. and other defendants. The original complaint, filed in May 2006, charged the defendants with running a cross-border fraud operation from Canada that used deceptive telemarketing to sell consumers business directories. The amended complaint adds Charles P. Farrugia, who was acting as the corporate defendants’ president when the case was filed, as a defendant.

The Commission vote authorizing the staff to file the amended complaint was 5-0. A copy can be found on the FTC’s Web site as a link to this press release. (FTC File No.X060034; the staff contact is John C. Hallerud, FTC Midwest Region, Chicago, 312-960-5615; see press release dated May 23, 2006.)
