FTC To Host Spam Report Discussion

The Federal Trade Commission will host a media roundtable on Tuesday, April 29, 2003, at 10:30 a.m. EST to discuss a new report, "False Claims in Spam." The report describes a staff review of a random sample drawn from more than 11 million pieces of unsolicited commercial e-mail, commonly known as spam. The e-mails reviewed by the FTC staff came from three FTC data sets: spam forwarded to the FTC by consumers; spam received by undercover FTC e-mail boxes; and spam sent to FTC employees' official FTC e-mail addresses.
