The Commission has approved the publication of a Federal Register notice regarding the regulatory review of the rules and regulations under the Hobby Protection Act, 16 C.F.R. Part 304. The notice, which is available on the FTC's Web site and will be published shortly, solicits public comments on the Hobby Protection Act Rule, as part of the Commission's ongoing regulatory review program. The FTC included review of this Rule in the 2003 regulatory review calendar it announced on January 7, 2003, which it published in the Federal Register on January 17, 2003.

The Federal Register notice describes the provisions and requirements of the Rule and includes a list of regulatory review questions related to the Rule's overall costs and benefits to the public and industry. It also seeks public comments on possible conflicts between the Rule and state, local, or other federal laws; and the effect, if any, of modern technology such as e-mail and the Internet on the Rule. The Commission vote to approve publication of the Federal Register notice was 5-0. (FTC File No. P974230; staff contact is Neil J.
