WHO: Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA)
Compliance Training Program for Website Operators.

COPPA, which requires that Web sites directed to children under 13 years old obtain verifiable parental consent before collecting information from children, became effective April 21 2000. In order to encourage compliance with COPPA's provisions, the FTC is undertaking a number of educational initiatives. The agency will conduct a public training program to assist Web site operators in understanding the FTC's regulations implementing the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act. Presentations will focus on such areas as privacy policies, parental notices, how to obtain verifiable parental consent, and safe harbor programs under the rule.
