Share This Page

Looking for ways to celebrate the summer solstice? Tune in to the FTC's workshop on competition and consumer protection issues in solar energy. Tomorrow, on June 21, scientists, academics, regulators, and other industry experts will come together for a series of presentations and roundtables to discuss:

  • The current state of the solar power industry, and anticipated technological advancements;
  • Current regulatory approaches to compensating consumers for the power they generate, with a particular focus on net metering laws and regulations;
  • Competition among solar panel firms, between solar panel firms and regulated utilities, and between solar generation and other power generation technologies; and
  • Consumer protection issues, including how consumers get the information necessary to decide whether to install solar panels.

Chairwoman Edith Ramirez will offer opening remarks at 8:40 am and the event will be webcast live from the FTC website. You can also follow updates from the workshop on Twitter @FTC using the hashtag #FTCsolar.
