Reminder: your appointment is coming up soon! Staff of the Federal Trade Commission and the U.S. Department of Justice Antitrust Division just posted the agenda for next week’s two-day health care workshop. One look, and you won’t need a second opinion – you definitely will want to attend.
Next Tuesday and Wednesday, Feb. 24-25, 2015, the FTC and DOJ Antitrust Division will co-host the second public workshop in the Examining Health Care Competition series. As explained in our prior blog post, the workshop will analyze the competitive effects of developing health care provider organization and payment models on the provision of health care services in the rapidly evolving health care industry.
On the first day, following opening remarks by FTC Chairwoman Edith Ramirez, noted health policy expert Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel will give a framing presentation to set the stage for our exciting workshop. DOJ Antitrust Division Assistant Attorney General William J. Baer will deliver opening remarks to kick off the second information-packed day. The free workshop will feature a broad range of renowned academics and knowledgeable industry participants representing multiple viewpoints, including a summation roundtable panel featuring a number of health care antitrust superstars. At the end of the first day, all attendees are invited to a networking reception with a diverse group of health policy and competition experts.
The workshop will be held in the Constitution Center Auditorium, 400 7th Street, SW, Washington, DC, 20024. Advance registration is not required but is strongly encouraged due to the anticipated popularity of this event. Whether you attend in-person or via live webcast (link will be active on the morning of the workshop), this is an appointment you will not want to miss.
More information about the workshop and instructions on how to file public comments (which will be accepted through April 30, 2015) can be found in the Federal Register Notice.
