It’s time for the FTC to recap the past year for The Boss. (We mean taxpayers, not Bruce Springsteen.) The FTC’s Annual Highlights is in an online format this time — be sure to check out the message from FTC Chairwoman Edith Ramirez — but it’s still packed with stats 'n' charts to show what we’ve been doing to protect America’s consumers.
The Highlights cover a dozen key areas — from Challenging Deceptive Advertising and Protecting Consumer Privacy to Trending in Technology and Fostering Competition & Innovation. Although we think they speak in a more vivid format this time, the numbers still speak for themselves:
- 109 actions filed
- 125 orders obtained
- $741 million in redress or disgorgement ordered
- $63 million in civil penalties ordered
- 2 new rulemakings
- 13 new reports.
