Dot Com Disclosures deadline extended

Hmm.  Escape for a few days at the beach or burn the midnight oil to meet the impending deadline for comments about the FTC’s guidance document, Dot Com Disclosures: Information About Online Advertising?  No need to make that choice now that the Commission has extended the deadline for comments to Wednesday, August 10, 2011.

A lot has happened in the decade since the FTC staff issued the publication that advises businesses how federal advertising law applies to marketing on the Internet. The Commission wants to hear from you and your clients about any technical and legal issues that should be addressed in a possible update to Dot Com Disclosures.

Online comments are the easiest for everybody and can be filed here.  Prefer to go old-school?  Send hard copies to: Federal Trade Commission, Office of the Secretary, Room H-113 (Annex I), 600 Pennsylvania Avenue, N.W., Washington, DC 20580

If you file a comment on paper close to the August 10th deadline, consider using a courier or overnight service since regular mail to the FTC can be delayed due to heightened security precautions.
