FTC sends refunds to people who paid for invention promotion services

The FTC is sending a second round of payments to people targeted by a bogus invention promotion business that failed to deliver on the services it promised and bullied customers who tried to complain. According to the FTC, aspiring inventors paid World Patent Marketing Inc. to patent and market their inventions based on bogus “success stories” and testimonials promoted by the defendants.

The FTC first sent refunds in March 2020. Because there is still money in the fund, the agency is sending an additional 2,322 PayPal payments and 1,080 checks totaling $153,292 to people who accepted their initial payments.

If you receive a PayPal payment, you have 30 days to accept the payment.

If you receive a check, you have 90 days to cash it.
