FTC sends refunds to people who paid for invention promotion services
The FTC is sending 5,503 refunds totaling more than $1 million to people targeted by a bogus invention promotion business that failed to deliver on the services it promised, and bullied customers who tried to complain. According to the FTC, aspiring inventors paid World Patent Marketing Inc. to patent and market their inventions based on bogus “success stories” and testimonials promoted by the defendants.
