FTC Returns Money to People Harmed by Mortgage Relief Scam
The FTC is mailing refund checks to homeowners who paid an up-front fee for mortgage relief services that were not provided. According to the FTC, before providing any services, Wealth Educators illegally charged homeowners a fee ranging from $1,000 - $5,000, which the company promised would be fully refunded if mortgage relief was not provided. Despite these promises, people who tried to get their money back could not do so. The company also told homeowners to stop communicating with their lenders, which delayed them from discovering that Wealth Educators had not obtained the promised mortgage relief.
If you get a check, you have until June 8, 2016, to cash it. If you have questions about the case, you can call the hotline at 1-844-836-3604.
