NetSpend Will Provide Refunds To Affected Customers
NetSpend Corporation has agreed to pay $53 million to provide refunds and settle FTC charges related to NetSpend debit cards. According to the FTC's complaint, many people couldn't access money deposited to their NetSpend account, either because NetSpend denied or delayed activation of the card or because NetSpend blocked them from using it.
NetSpend was required to provide notice by email or mail to people who are eligible for a refund by June 9, 2017. If you got a notice, please apply for a refund by clicking on the link in the email, or returning the printed form included in the mailing. You have until October 7, 2017 to request a refund. The refund will be sent within 30 days of your request.
If you have any problems getting your funds, please let the FTC know by emailing NetSpend@ftc.gov. We will continue to update this page as the refund process unfolds.
