FTC mails checks to people who lost money in work-at-home scheme
The Federal Trade Commission is mailing 2,031 checks totaling more than $436,000 to people who lost money to Money Now Funding, a work-at-home scheme. According to the FTC, the defendants falsely promised that people could make money by referring small businesses to them to get loans, but the defendants didn’t even have a money-lending service.
People who lost money will get an average of $214 back. Recipients should deposit or cash checks within 60 days.
