FTC sends refunds to LifeLock Customers
The FTC is sending PayPal payments to 215,403 LifeLock customers who were LifeLock members between 2012 and 2014 and are still owed a payment from the 2015 settlement between the FTC and LifeLock.
In October 2019, the FTC sent checks to more than one million people totaling more than $31 million. Now, the FTC is sending PayPal payments to people who did not cash their check and who have a valid email address on file.
According to the FTC, LifeLock failed to establish and maintain a comprehensive information security program to protect its customer data, falsely advertised that it protected sensitive customer data with the same high-level safeguards used by financial institutions, and falsely claimed it provided 24/7/365 alerts “as soon as” it received any indication a customer's identity was being used.
If you receive a PayPal payment, you have 30 days to accept it. If you do not have a PayPal account, and would prefer to get a check, please call 1-866-898-5106.
