FTC sends third payment to people who lost money to a multi-level marketing scheme

The FTC is mailing a third round of checks totaling more than $4.2 million to people who lost money running Herbalife businesses.

The FTC sued Herbalife in 2016, alleging Herbalife and its affiliates deceived consumers into believing they could earn substantial money selling diet, nutritional supplement, and personal care products. Herbalife settled with the FTC and agreed to pay $200 million to compensate consumers and fundamentally restructure its business.

The FTC mailed the first round of checks in January 2017 and the second round of checks in May 2019. These distributions resulted in nearly $194.3 million in refunds. Because money still remains in the fund, the FTC is mailing an additional 42,713 checks totaling over $4.2 million to people who previously cashed a check in this matter and paid Herbalife at least $50.

If you get a check, please cash it within 90 days.
