FTC sends refunds to people who paid for tech support services
The FTC is sending a second round of refunds to people who were victims of an alleged tech support scam. The FTC says that Click4Support and related defendants pretended to be affiliated with companies like Microsoft and Apple and tricked people into believing their computers were infected with malware, then charged them hundreds of dollars for unnecessary computer repairs.
The FTC first sent refunds in February 2020. Because there is still money in the fund, the agency is sending an additional 2,755 checks and 19,595 PayPal payments totaling more than $800,000.
If you receive a PayPal payment, you have 30 days to accept the payment. If you receive a check, you have 90 days to cash it.
If you have any questions, please call the refund administrator at 1-877-389-4472.
