FTC MAILS CLAIM FORMS IN DEBT RELIEF CASE
The FTC sued A1 DocPrep and related defendants, alleging that they collected illegal upfront fees from consumers for debt relief services. The defendants falsely promised to lower monthly student loan payments and forgive student loan debt, or promised distressed homeowners that they would negotiate mortgage modifications and prevent foreclosure. The defendants agreed to settle the FTC's charges and paid money to the FTC to provide partial refunds to consumers for fees collected by the defendants.
The defendants operated using many different business names including:
- A1 DocPrep
- Project Uplift Students
- Home Shield Network
- Stream Lined Marketing
- Project Uplift America
- Keep Your Home USA
- Bloom Law Group PC
