The Federal Trade Commission’s Bureau of Competition and Bureau of Consumer Protection are jointly offering the agency’s first ever Honors Attorney Program. This opportunity will allow five new attorneys, hired directly out of law school or judicial clerkships, to develop a strong foundation in both competition and consumer protection enforcement and policy work through a year-long assignment in each Bureau. Upon successful completion of a two-year term limited appointment, participants may be converted to a permanent position and may be given the opportunity to select which Bureau they would like to join, depending on agency need.

The goals of the FTC Honors Attorney Program include: exposing attorneys to the agency’s two core missions and how they intersect; encouraging an interdisciplinary approach to competition and consumer protection enforcement; and promoting the development of well-rounded legal and investigative skills. During their time in each Bureau, attorneys will gain invaluable hands-on experience working on fast-paced investigations and/or cutting-edge litigation, and will build relationships through teamwork and mentorship. FTC Honors Attorney Program participants will receive all formal and informal training typically offered to our new attorneys, plus selected enrichment opportunities.

Rotational Placement Options

Selected candidates will begin the FTC Honors Attorney Program in Fall 2024 and complete one year in each Bureau.
