Request for Comments and Announcement of Workshop on Pet Medications Issues, Project No. P121201

FTC: The passage of the current bill 1406 would unjustly burden every veterinarian in the US. Any client who walks in my clinic and needs a prescription medication for their pet, can ask and will receive with no problems or hinderance. We do not need more Regulation!!!! What you may want to look into is the injustice that these pet stores and farm stores who sell animal products and have no idea what they are selling. Recently a farm store owner commented to me that he is going to start selling cattle vaccine. I inquired what type and for what diseases and he had no idea. I asked if he knew what the difference of a killed vaccine and a modified live vaccine was and he still did not have any idea. Well, a modified live vaccine can cause abortions in cows and he is going to be selling these product to the public with no idea for the safety of the product. This is where you need to "regulate" this type of damage that takes place daily and leave the professionals(veterinarians) alone. I know why this all coming about and you should not buckle under from the pressure from major animal product retailors(Pet Med,Walmart). We, as veterinarians, are a concerned and ethical group who has the well being of our patients, as our major concern. I do not want a pharmacy to change a medication without my knowledge or to prescribe the wrong medication. My patients desire better. Sincerely, Gregory L. Bach DVM
