You simply need to look as far as the title of the proposed Act to determine where this originates. The inference is that currently pet owners are being treated unfairly by those prescribing them their pet(s)' medications. On what grounds have veterinarians taken advantage of the public This act will, in fact, negatively impact pet owners financially. Veterinarians, due to escalating costs of schooling and traditionally low salaries, will not be able to just "bite the bullet" on this one. If veterinarians lose the majority of their pharmaceutical income to big-chain competition, costs for veterinary care will have to go up to absorb that loss. Outside of the economic effects to owners, where do the animals factor into this Veterinarians are also animal pharmacists! Human pharmacists do not know and are not qualified to give directions or answer questions regarding the effects of any medications(human or animal) on pets. The only beneficiaries to this act will be big chain retailers and online pharmacies.
