As a veterinarian, I stand with the AVMA in opposing this bill. We already provide written prescriptions to our clients on request. Mandating that we do so would put an undue burden on us. Why is this bill necessary In my experiance, clients do not want to make another stop to pick up their pet's medication (and many medications are not available at human pharmacies). Is there a great cry for pet owners to get written prescriptions Does this not also place undue burden on the pet owner to find a way to fill said prescription ! There are many internet "pharmacies" out there that are not well regulated or have questionable business practices. Why would you encourage pet owners to go to these companies instead of to their trusted veterinarian Veterinarians are trained to provide the best professional care to their patients and clients. We do not need a bill dictating prescribing laws to us when we already have regulations in place.
