RE: Written prescriptions provided by the veterinarian The license number is on a written prescription and this may encourage forgery of prescriptions, thus involving the veterinarian in a lengthy and costly legal battle. As for pharmacists prescribing and dispensing animal prescriptions, I do not believe they have the veterinary knowledge or the personal knowledge of the pet to properly dispense or prescribe. Even if they are allowed to dispense the products, it will be easy to prescribe other products with out the veterinarians knowledge. Personally, I would prefer to call a prescription in rather than give a written record, as there have been cases of online pharmacies using this to authorize other prescriptions in my name. (This has actually happened to me) Furthermore, I have no guarantee that the product will be genuine and I could be considered liable for any failure, illness or death caused by a fake product. Many of these products come from other countries that do not have the same scrutiny or regulation that the US has. Thank you Dr. R.E.Fischer
