Request for Comments and Announcement of Workshop on Pet Medications Issues, Project No. P121201

FTC, As a veterinary who works at a low cost clinic, I feel that losing revenue on prescription medication would increase the over all cost to the consumer. We would have to increase our exam fees, heartworm testing fees and other routine items. We also keep our prescription prices close to most online store. If we had to double our office fee to make a profit, so our clients could save 20% on heartgard, the consumer would be hit harder in the pocket book. Also by selling medications to our clients directly we can keep track if they giving them correctly, have the correct size, and discuss the medications with them. This helps with client compliance, because if I just give out a script, I don't know if they fill it or not. Also if there is an adverse reaction we know what products they got. For the better care of the animal and the over all savings to the consumer it is best to leave the prescription medication in the vet office. Thank you for your time and consideration, Sherrie Pleis, DVM
