It is unbelievable that the FTC would proceed with the forced sale and closing of our store, Tops market Rochester Rd. Lockport NY, formerly Quality market, causing the loss of our Pharmacy and showing complete disregard for the people in our community. I appreciate that the commission feels they are protecting the consumer, but if this commission is proceeding in the public interest, than PLEASE keep the public's 'best interest' as your goal. This is not an all-inclusive, cut and dried situation we have here. Your concerns of protecting consumers from potential anti-competetive effects of tops? what concerns? We have seen no increase in prices under tops management, in fact, there's been an increase in available products and even some lower prices. We are being served even better than before and we are all very happy with the new operation. This supermarket serves countless rural families, many elderly, with a convenient location and easy access to both Rt. 31 and Rt. 77. The trip to another market is 4 to 5 miles away, incurring more traffic for them. We have no competitive concerns here, we are dependent on this store for our daily needs and more importantly, our prescription care. Our Pharmacist knows each one of us personally and cares about us. Many can attest to keeping her past closing time filling an emergency script or spending time explaining side effects of a new drug, sometimes even calming our fears about why we are taking a new prescripton. She takes a personal interest in our health and welfare. Forcing tops to sell to just anyone will leave us, in all probability, with a discount store or a small market with NO pharmacy, or maybe, with no store at all. Is that protecting the consumer, or looking out for our best interest? I think not. If you must proceed with closings, please choose a tops in some other area where there are several in very close proximity to each other...Let us keep ours. We are not being deceived here....No one is being cheated...FTC- keep your concerns in perspective..Take a closer look at us Personally, and allow tops and our Pharmacy to remain here for us.
