Tops Markets have attempted to eliminate competition in the Lockport area for several years. They finance a the Smart Growth group in Lockport which has filed numerous law suits against the construction of a Super Wal-Mart which as I am sure you know would include a super market. Years of Frivolous lawsuits have stalled the construction and thereby allowed Tops to over charge area residents. Quality Markets were the only true competitors in the Lockport area and as you have found Tops eventually eliminated that option. The Lockport Wal-Mart Super Center is proposed to replace the current Lockport Mall. The demolition of the former Lockport Mall and subsequent Wal-Mart would decrease the current building size and allow for more green space. Yet, Smart Growth (Tops Markets) have successfully stalled that Project. For more information about Smart Growth contact Supervisor Marc Smith via the eLockport.com web site. Also please see the Smart Growth web site including public coments. http://lockportforum.blogspot.com/2009/07/smart-growth-v-wal-mart-iii.html Thank you
