FTC Seeks Public Comments on Two More Proposed Whole Foods Divestitures, Docket No. 9324, FTC File No. 071 0114

3/24/2010 To Whom It May Concern: We are writing this correspondence to encourage the FTC to grant the name and intellectual property associated with Alfalfa's Market to A-M Holdings. The original Alfalfa's Market at the same location as the store now under Whole Foods was a landmark enterprise. As a Boulder Real Estate Broker, I was involved in finding this property for the original owners. We watched and listened as the forward-thinking plans and developments unfolded including coming up with the name "Alfalfa's Market." These were, and still are, our dear friends on a mission to create the first large-scale natural and organic store in the nation. It had, and will have again, a community appeal and a loyal following of residents wanting better for themselves and their families. The local ownership innovatively provided what we sought. The name, identity, and intellectual property belong with these foresighted individuals who envisioned it, not another entity void of any investment in it. Whole Foods operates three stores within our city limits with no competition. We need and want choices and stimulated competition as growth in the natural and organic industry continues. A-M Holdings has effectively competed with Whole Foods in the past and can step up again as the new old Alfalfa's Market on the corner of Broadway and Arapahoe. We also appreciate that some of those who lost their jobs in the former acquisition will find employment again thereby contributing to our local economy. Thank you for your consideration of this matter, Glenn and Jody Vigil
