Dear Mr. Ducore -- The potential for the opening of a Trader Joe's store in Portland, ME is creating such excitement for the TJ lovers in this area! With $300,000 a week in potential sales, the store will employ many Mainers and help a local economy that is in need. Moving into the Bayside neighborhood will benefit it as well, as it is an area that is demonstrating a rebirth, and the empty building detracts from the area. Portland is such a nationally renowned food town that adding a Trader Joe's will fill a void for reasonably priced gourmet food. Folks in this area love good food, seriously! People won't stop buying food at local markets (Hannaford, Shaws) & Whole Foods, but it will fill a gap in the local food scene. Each of the local & national stores has its strong areas, but they truly complement each other. I know of nobody who exclusively shops at one food store because of this. As an added bonus, we won't have to travel 75-80 miles away to Massachusetts or New Hampshire to the nearest Trader Joe's!! What a savings in fuel consumption that will be. Please, please encourage the FTC to approve of the move of this wonderful company to move one of its delicious stores to Portland. There is a huge groundswell of support (and as you know, many people won't take keyboard in lap to send you their thoughts.) Thank you! Elizabeth Bodor
