FTC Seeks Public Comments on Trustee's Proposal to Divest One Store under Whole Foods Market Inc. Divestiture Order, Docket No. 9324, FTC File No. 071 0114'

This a request to approve Trader Joe's in the former Wild Oats space now owned by Whole Foods. Since coming to Portland Whole Foods has removed a least two, if not more, options for buying natural foods. It first bought out the Whole Grocer, which is closed as soon as it opened its own store. It then overtook Wild Oats and closed that store. Currently there are no other natural food stores in Portland, Maine other than Whole Foods. The old Wild Oats space sits empty. There is ripe opportunity for the space to provide Portland residents with competition, which is currently lacking. I prefer to shop in smaller, less 'boxy' stores. I do not agree that Whole Foods should have as much share of the market as it currently holds in Portland. I support Trader Joe's taking the former Wild Oats space and I am writing to ask that the FTC does also. Sincerely, Danae E. Kesel
