Having grown up in Massachusetts and enjoyed the creative, affordable products that fill the shelves of Trader Joes, I have missed their presence in a community like Portland since I relocated in 2006. I frequently drive to Massachusetts just to stock up and I would rather be spending my money supporting a Maine franchise which employs Maine people and the taxes I pay on those purchases should go to local and state levels for MY state. One of the things I love most about Portland is their 'buy local' campaign and the willingness of the community to embrace a vast array of cultural restaurants and markets. Trader Joes philosophy and business directly cater to this population and we would be greatly served by its presence. I would also vote for granting them a liquor license so the people of Maine can enjoy TJ's great chain of suppliers in the wine and beer arena as well. Many Thanks for the consideration of enhancing the needed variety in our grocery establishments. Sarah Robbins
