16 CFR Part 610 Amendments to Rule to Prevent Deceptive Marketing of Credit Reports and to Ensure Access to Free Annual File Disclosures

To Whom It May Concern, I feel strongly that the 'free' in 'Free Credit Report' must be truly free. As a citizen of this great country, I am appalled at the number of people who end up on impostor sites or who fall for promotions for free credit reports that aren't really free. The FTC MUST correct this. The FTC MUST protect consumers. The FTC must ensure that they amend the law by February 22nd, 2010 to prevent deceptive marketing of credit reports. The FTC MUST require that all advertising and marketing by credit bureaus before, during and even after the proces of getting a free credit report be REMOVED. Consumers should be able to easily obtain their credit reports without having to go through a gauntlet of sales pitches. The website for credit reports, AnnualCreditReport.com MUST be COMMERCIAL FREE. Please. thank you, -Carol Reynolds
