I feel that the requirement to list annualcreditreport.com in marketing materials that advertise free credit reports that automatically opts-in the consumer for a credit monitoring service is a good idea. Additionally the terms and conditions that indicate that the report is given only with a subscription to the monitoring service should be on the same page in plain-language in a prominent position near the action button on the website or on other forms of advertising. The regulation should go further that when a consumer is enrolling into a credit monitoring program, that the consumer is given information about the product or service they are enrolling for, detailing what is included in the service, as well as the exclusions in ordinary text instead of having to refer to the terms and conditions.
