16 CFR Part 610 Amendments to Rule to Prevent Deceptive Marketing of Credit Reports and to Ensure Access to Free Annual File Disclosures

To Whom It May Concern: I support your proposal to require a separate landing page on sites which advertise free reports which explains that the reports are NOT the free reports guaranteed by the federal government. I also support your proposal to delay advertising for other credit products until after consumers obtain their free annual credit reports. I and other individuals have made the mistake of trying to get a Free credit report only to be badgered into handing over credit card information "for information only" and find that I have been charged fees that I didn't agree to because I didn't cancel something in time. This practice is deceptive and preys on individuals who typically cannot afford such fees. If a pharmaceutical company did something like this the federal goverment would be all over it and people would be up in arms. Well, financial health is just as important as physical health, as evidenced in the current health care reform debates. Let's get serious about making reforms that benefit the public immediately. Sincerely, A Concerned Voter
