16 CFR Part 610 Amendments to Rule to Prevent Deceptive Marketing of Credit Reports and to Ensure Access to Free Annual File Disclosures

I signed up for a "free" credit report after my divorce and it came with "free" credit monitoring-after a divorce who wouldn't. 12 months later and several phone calls from credit card companies that were supposedly block by this monitoring system, I was charged 89.00 for "services rendered" when I called and inquiried why, I was told that they had monitored my credit report and it was fine. I had been slowly removing "bad credit information" left over from my divorce and added because of my ex, that I wondered what exactly they had done to monitor it but the clerk on the phone could not be more specific. I protested the charge and it was reversed but it took several months. I thought free meant without charge!!!! Please stop these people and make search engines take the "free" off of the links to their internet addresses. They are not entitled to tell us free and then charge us!!!
