16 CFR Part 610 Amendments to Rule to Prevent Deceptive Marketing of Credit Reports and to Ensure Access to Free Annual File Disclosures

Dear FTC: I have used the free credit report website several times. Though I am an experienced computer user who usually recognizes the proper path through various sites quite easily, this site is very confusing and deceptive. One can only imagine how difficult it is for users such as elderly people and those who are less proficient with technology and the internet. Your agency is to be commended for taking action but in my opinion, all advertising and marketing should be removed from the free credit report process. The service is supposed to be just that - a service to consumers, not a marketing opportunity for credit report companies and their affiliates. I strongly urge you to strengthen your proposed action. Please prohibit any and all marketing activity from the free consumer credit report process. Thank you for your time. Russell Goutierez
