16 CFR Part 610 Amendments to Rule to Prevent Deceptive Marketing of Credit Reports and to Ensure Access to Free Annual File Disclosures

Office of Secretary, Federal Trade Commission I read this morning a news article stating that you welcome comments regarding requests for the annual free credit report. I want you to know how disappointed I am that I can request a free credit report, but I must pay a fee, (as in sample below, Equifax charges $7.95) to also learn my credit score. What sense does this make? Sure, I need to know the hairy, scarey details on my report, but without the industry's "inside baseball" scoring, I am unable to ascertain my level of success, since I don't have enough details to score myself. I want to improve my credit score! Does the practice of teasing me with the details, but then charging for my bottom line score seem fair and reasonable to you? I trust that you will work diligently to not only remove teasers of additional products (also included below), but to ensure that the essential element of the credit score is automatically included in the annual free report. Thank you for your efforts on behalf of the American public, Dalene Buhl Taxpayer Welcome to Equifax -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Step 2 of 3: Order Summary Step 1: Completed Step 2: In Process Step 3: To Be Done Product Quantity Price Equifax Credit File 1 FREE FICO(r) Credit Score $7.95 Total Price: $7.95 Limited Offer!
