Private companies that use "free credit report" in their name should be required to first send customers to a page explaining they are not AnnualCreditReport.com. In my opinion, the marketing practices of companies who market credit reports for a fee are misleading and dishonest. I inadvertenly authorized one of these companies to charge me for an ongoing credit service when all I was attempting to do was obtain a free copy of my credit report from one of the credit reporting companies. Once the charge appeared on my credit card bill I immediately canceled the service, however, I was still charged a "bogus" fee for a credit monitoring service that I didn't need and was unaware that I had authorized.
