16 CFR Part 610 Amendments to Rule to Prevent Deceptive Marketing of Credit Reports and to Ensure Access to Free Annual File Disclosures

It is ridiculous and absurd that regulators like yourselves allow the credit bureaus and these sleezy impostor companies to take advantage of the American people. As such, please include the following amendments to the free credit report 1. AnnualCreditReport.com should NOT be a source of FREE ADVERTISING for the credit bureaus. Forbid all marketing and advertising by the credit bureaus before, during, AND AFTER citizens have obtained their reports through telephone, mail or Internet from the centralized source. 2. Please ensure that people are not TRICKED into purchasing from the credit bureaus by REMOVING THE CREDIT BUREAU HYPERLINKS from AnnualCreditReport.com 3. If you are not going to shut down impostor free credit report sites, require them to immediately send citizens to a separate landing page that largely and boldly discloses: "THIS IS NOT THE FREE CREDIT REPORT PROVIDED FOR BY FEDERAL LAW. TO OBTAIN THE FREE CREDIT REPORT PROVIDED BY FEDERAL LAW, GO TO www.AnnualCreditReport.com." 4. In addition to the free credit report, citizens should be able to obtain their credit scores, for free, once per year. Please mandate that the three credit bureaus provide an individual's three credit scores, for free, once per year. These are basic, common sense amendments for people who are sincere in their efforts to protect consumers. Please include them in the updates to the free-report rule. Sincerely, Mona Kelly
