I believe the FTC "free credit report" site should be just that: a site on which any consumer, regardless of technological sophistication, can quickly and easily obtain the free credit reports to which we are entitled by law. This means that the FTC should eliminate all links to, and advertising by, any third parties. Period, end of story. The FTC SHOULD NOT be in the business of supporting the for-profit services of third parties, the FTC's sole purpose should be to help consumers get the information they need without fear of misdirection or confusion caused by for-profit third parties and often rising to the level of outright fraud.
