I strongly support this rule but don't think it goes far enough. My wife and I check our free credit reports once every 4 months, rotating through the bureaus to make sure we get one each year for each of us from each of the companies. We are very familiar with this process, yet, despite that, we have to pay exceptionally close attention to make certain that we are clicking on the correct links to get us our free reports and nothing else. I urge you to ban private advertising and come-on offers from the entire site, even after we get our free reports. If people want any for-fee services from one of the bureaus, allow them to click on a single low-key link to each of the private sites of the credit bureaus -- which has a disclaimer on it that the consumer is leaving the free credit report site and that services offered from hereon are not part of the guaranteed free offer required by the US government. Or better yet, ban all advertising altogther on the free site. Thank you for your consideration.
