16 CFR Part 610 Amendments to Rule to Prevent Deceptive Marketing of Credit Reports and to Ensure Access to Free Annual File Disclosures

What began as a well-intentioned procedure for obtaing access to one's credit files has turned into an abject mess, heightened by efforts to turn it into just one more cOmmerecial $$ grab. We recently obtained my wife Janet's credit file from Equifax and supplied Equifax with a credit card number to get the "credit score". No "score"was ever received despite the fact that the charge showed up on our VISA bill. It is impossible to talk with a representative of Equifax on the telephone. All you get is some robot talk. We got lucky when the credit card company agreed to void the charge. Please bring these companies to heel. force them to be responsive to client needs. thank you.....................john waugh
