From Town Criers to Bloggers: How Will Journalism Survive the Internet Age?
The Federal Government should not be using tax payer dollars to support a journalism bailout. The American people freely choose the news media they prefer. We do not need and there is no constitutional reason for the federal government to get involved and use tax payer money to support jounalism. I understand that the current people in Washington are not happy with the fact that the American citizens are not falling into line behind the washington ideaolgy. That does not give the government the authority to restrict journalism by taxing thosse that do not support the politically correct Washington viewpoint. This amount to theft of tax payer dollars in order to prop up support for a political party. No jounalist in the United States under any President at any time should be supported by tax dollars. If the journalist, be it print, TV or radio, go under, that is just too bad. In the United States of America we currently have the right to choose the media to which we give our attention and there by our support. Only under communist rule can this be taken from us. Is this what you are telling the American people - that we are no longer free and must listen to what President Obama, Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi and his supporter tell us we have to listen to? I believe the Constitution and the founding fathers support free speech, NOT government control of the media. The is no tolerence from democrats for conservative view points. Now the democrats are choosing to destroy the Constitution in order to stop free speech. We do not want the government to tax, limit, or restrain free speech.
