From Town Criers to Bloggers: How Will Journalism Survive the Internet Age?
This is a comment regarding the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) convening 6/15/10 at the National Press Club in Washington, DC to “explore how the Internet has affected journalism.” As a taxpayer, I do not want any taxpayer money going to bailout newspapers. This would be like bailing out horse and buggy carts businesses, due to the invention of the automobile. All citizens in the US have the right to free speech; and we want independent thinking. We do NOT want government-sponsored journalism (is this 1984 or FAHRENHEIT 451)? That’s what the founders of this nation strived to stop. If we want the government spin on anything today there are plenty of websites to go to; and most of the nation’s major media outlets give plenty of coverage to the government’s’ position when it’s a position that is liberal/ on the left. Do not suppress free speech. You are striving to further suppress conservative speech, and that is WRONG!!!
